La Cavalerie and Millau Viaduct 2nd August 2014

A typical French summers day today. NOT.

Fortunately today was programmed as a rest day with not much on the sightseeing list which was just as well as we have had thunderstorms for most of the day. We walked around the village where we are staying and investigated the Templars and Hospitaller Knights walled village which has been renovated and is part of the urban landscape of the area. This was really interesting as the houses and businesses which are many centuries old have been substantially modernized inside and are quite comfortable(although they still have very low doorways which are a hazard to ones head).

After lunch when the storms cleared for a little while we drove into Millau to photograph the Millau Viaduct which is the tallest bridge in the world at 343 meters. It just dominates the landscape.
