Girona and Pertallada 7th August 2014

We drove into Girona this morning for a walk around the old town which can trace its history back some 2000 years. You can walk along nearly all of the old perimeter wall for spectacular views of the whole city as well as some beautiful gardens and a walk along the river allows you to see the houses from the early 20th century that hang over it.

After lunch we made our 30 kms away to a very small town called Pertallada. This restored medieval town has numerous restaurants and artisans with a restored medieval castle now operating as a luxury hotel. Most of the buildings are made from the sandstone that was dug out to form the moat around the town.
